Reflexology is the stimulation of the nerve endings of the feet. There are over 7000 nerve endings in the feet, making them sensitive to touch. There are many ancient traditions that have used touch, specifically of the feet, and this has survived into modern times. Some variations practice on a dry foot, some use lotions, some use oils. Some variations even use tools, or promote “no pain, no gain”. In general, North American reflexology is gentle, soothing, and relaxing.

There are many people who will say that Reflexology, and other modalities, such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, are “pseudoscience” and thus ineffective. This is a half truth. It is true that currently, our methods and knowledge of science cannot prove the energy of the body. This does not mean it does not exist. In researching Reflexology on the internet, there are a lot of convoluted articles and many that claim one end of the spectrum or the other. It is up to you on what treatment you decide on for yourself, but please be aware that modern medicine is not actually so old, and it all came from the same place. Plant medicine and physical touch are what have evolved into todays Doctors, hospitals, and medicine. Both are correct and helpful, but it is one’s own choice which route to use to attain and maintain personal, optimal health.

I am trained in World Fusion Reflexology, and so I use a few different techniques picked up, and incorporated by my teacher into a treatment. My treatment will relax you and help your body de-stress to attain homeostasis so that it can work to heal itself. Many people report various symptoms as being helped by reflexology, but we do not make healing claims. We just work to put your body into a place where it can successfully heal itself.
